The Muses from Hercules

In Hercules, the Muses are the "goddesses of the arts and proclaimers of heroes" who narrate the movie and sing most of its songs. In Greek mythology, there are nine muses. In the Disney movie, we see only five - Calliope, Clio, Melpomene, Terpsichore and Thalia.


Calliope

In mythology: patron of epic poetry and the eldest
What sets her apart: she's the tallest, with high, curly hair


Clio

In mythology: patron of history
What sets her apart: she wears her hair in a ponytail


Melpomene

In mythology: patron of tragedy and lyre playing
What sets her apart: she has long, wavy hair


Terpsichore

In mythology: patron of lyric poetry and dancing
What sets her apart: she has frizzy hair


Thalia

In mythology: patron of comedy
What sets her apart: she's short and fat
