The Characters in Moana 2
At the urging of her mother Sina, Moana assembles a wayfinding crew to travel to the lost island of Motufetu, which once connected all the islands of her people, but is now under a curse by power-hungry Nalo, the God of Storms. Her crew of unlikely seafarers, known as her "Canoe Crew" consists of Loto, Kele, Moni and Kotu.
Loto is a bright young boat designer and builder responsible for Moana's new ship.
Kele is a grumpy old vegetable farmer.
Moni is an avid historian and storyteller and a Maui superfan.
Kotu is a member of the pirate Kakamora tribe. In fact, he's the son of the Kakamora chief. He joins Moana's team later on their quest.
Maui, of course, returns to join Moana's crew with his trusty magical hook, and never too far from Moana are her silly rooster pal Heihei and pet pig Pua, who now boasts an adorable tiny tusk!
Together, Moana and her wayfinding crew face crazy monsters and angry gods, chief among them the fearsome and powerful God of Storms Nalo, who, fearing the power of humans when united, means to keep them forever divided.
Other characters include a mischievous and charismatic demigod named Matangi, as well as Moana's lively baby sister Simea, who wants to be just like Moana when she's older!
The Songs in Moana 2
The film's music is written by Grammy winners Abigail Barlow, Emily Bear and Mark Mancina and Grammy nominee Opetaia Foa'i.
The opening song "We're Back" is a celebration of the people of Motunui's reclaimed heritage.
The theme song "Beyond", very much like "How Far I'll Go", highlights Moana's yearning to know what lies beyond her world, and her sense of duty to help her people, but with the kind of wisdom and confidence that comes with maturity.
"What Could Be Better Than This?" showcases the differences in the personalities of Moana's crew as they set sail together.
Maui gives Moana a pep talk in the fast-paced, upbeat song "Can I Get a Chee Hoo?!".
The villain Matangi's theme song is titled "Get Lost".
